Yaoi Crate Shipping Delays

A letter from Yaoi Crate's co-creator and CEO, Tylor Starr:

Hello everyone!

First, I want to say a big thank you to everyone for supporting Yaoi Crate. As we wrap up one year of working on Yaoi Crate and near the shipment of our 12th box, I am always so excited to see everyone's enthusiasm for our little BL subscription box. The rest of the Yaoi Crate team and I appreciate every single person who has purchased our box, followed us on social media, or just checked out what we are doing. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I wanted to update everyone on the recent shipping delays we have been experiencing due to the industry-wide printing delays that most book and manga printers are experiencing around the world. As you may know, Yaoi Crate often includes a book, doujin, or manga in each of our boxes. While not always guaranteed to be included, the majority of publishers we work with have a printed book of some kind we will include. Because of that, we have been very fortunate in that we haven't experienced much of a pinch point that the rest of the industry is feeling with printers experiencing delays because of COVID, lessened staff, and other difficulties -- until now.

For subscribers to our June Yaoi Crate (signed up or renewed between May 1st and May 31st), you'll know that we have only been able to send out about one-third of the June boxes because of the slow printing of Star Fruit's title, When Pink Rain Falls. We have the majority of the two-thirds of those books heading our way now, and once they arrive, we will be packing and shipping them to you as soon as we humanly can. Levi and Kim, our operations and packing team, are poised and ready to crank these boxes out as quickly as they can to get them to you as fast as possible.

For subscribers to our July Yaoi Crate (signed up or renewed between June 1st and June 30th), we have just received word that the books that are to be included in the July Yaoi Crate presented by Lovaboy Comics, Sinbad's Trial, have been delayed due to COVID complications and will be arriving in mid-August. Similarly to the June Yaoi Crate, once the books arrive, our fulfillment team will be working as quickly as possible to get these crates shipped out to you as fast as possible.

Finally, to the August Yaoi Crate subscribers (signed up or renewed between July 1st and July 20th), we fully anticipate this box to ship by the end of August. While our team will be working as hard as possible to get the June and July Yaoi Crates out the door, the August Yaoi Crate contains no such item like a book that would cause a delay, and therefore we expect these boxes to be on-time. As always, we will keep all subscribers in the loop on any potential delay.

Orders for the September Yaoi Crate will open on August 2nd, the day after #801Day. Now you may be asking yourself, "Tylor, why would you open orders for another month of boxes when you are behind on two boxes?" and that would be a great question. As a limited edition, monthly subscription box that has fulfilled the last eight months of Yaoi Crates, we need to continue to open orders for folks that have not had a chance to purchase one of our crates due to high demand. We also need to ensure we keep production going and the logistics of skipping a month for the hundreds and hundreds of subscribers we have would be a nightmare.

I hope this goes without saying, but everyone who has purchased their Yaoi Crate for June and July will be getting their crates, guaranteed. This is just a delay on one item. If I can be real for a second, it is always frustrating looking at the items we have ready to go to you all in the Yaoi Crate fulfillment center, knowing we are just waiting for one item. The cost of sending those items and then shipping the books separately isn't something Yaoi Crate is able to do at this time.

We know delays suck. They suck for us, they suck for you, and they suck for the authors and artists we have worked with. I want to thank everyone who has been so patient with us during this industry-wide printing delay, and hope you enjoy the boxes once they reach your doorstep! We just need a little more of your patience.

We have some really big things planned coming up that we cannot wait to share with you all, and cannot say THANK YOU enough for being a Yaoi Crate subscriber. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
